Broken Controllers (PS3)

Am I the only one who goes through PS3 controllers like 125 cc clutch plates on a muddy Southwick track? I have killed at least 6 controllers since this game came out. The Logitech units seemed to last the longest but Wal-Mart stopped selling them in my area. I bought and broke two Sony PS3 controllers in the last two weeks (right stick broken). Why are the Sony units so weak? I have huge hands and I guess I really use a lot of thumb force. Is anyone else having these problems? I also have to wrap the handles on the PS3 units with masking tape (like thirty wraps per handle) to make them thicker so I can hold on to them. Does anyone else have these problems and if so what are your solutions?

I have large hands as well and find myself pushing buttons/sticks harder than I should all the time. My controllers I have had since 2007 and, yes the squeek, but they aren't broken. I have aproblem with the left stick before and I took the controller apart, dusted some things, tried to move things around a tad (don't know if I actually did or if it moved back into place).... All I know is the both works perfectly now... Both are sixaxis, not DS3 by the way. Hope you solve your controller problems, buddy. That sucks!!!

I don't have large hands but I did have 2 broken 6 axis controllers. fixed them. The plastic case around the left stick cracked, I bought some 7/8" machine washers, made a jig so as to bring the outside diameter of the washers down to size without wrecking the washer, painted them black & epoxied them (washers) over the plastic. That was a few months ago, I haven't had a problem since.

It's user error. Ease up on the buttons man.   I broke the left stick on my first SIXAXIS by holding it down when I didn't have to for long periods of time playing CoD4. A lot of games intend for even the face buttons to be responsive to two levels of pressure. Just be more mindful, Sony controllers are premium quality. It's not a manufacturing issue by any stretch of the imagination.
