Hello all, I'm curious on how the multiplayer works.  A few friends are considering the purchase and have varying information on how well the game runs. 1st: I've heard good reviews on private matches that are friends/invite only. Does this function work as intended? Any issues to speak of. 2nd: What about public online racing. If you are joining a public session is there any way to join a session that someone from your friends list is in? IE: Join a buddy that's been playing for a bit online already. Played the demo and am impressed with the physics and how the machines respond.  Looking forward to the game myself but wondering if it's going to fit the online bill for some of my clanmates.  If the party system works well it will have much better replay for some. Any information is greatly appreciated. erief0g OTD Clan

C'mon fella's. Somebody has to be able to answer this stuff. Simply put. If I'm in a game online in whatever race mode/class and playing along, then my brother from across the US wants to join in can he join the race that I'm in? Yes/no? Please help.. This is the ammo I need to get another 6-7 players in the game.

Well, there's no guarantee everyone can play together, but... Your best bet  is a private match. You or one of your buddies on your friends list can host a game and invite the rest...in thoery. Some of the problems you're likely to encounter are: -No/very poor voice chat quality.  Sometimes you might hear two friends who can only hear you but not each other.  Sometimes you might not hear anyone at all and have to reboot.  Sometimes you might hear each other in the compound but not the race.  It's maddening. -Players not being able to get in, or certain players who can't play when another player is present.  So you may have to choose which one of you buddies doesn't get to play.  Maybe more than one.  Also, you may get 5 guys in a race only to watch them all drop out one by one, yet you can still hear them.  They will think you left and you will think they did, but everyone is still racing.  It's a mess. Or, everything might work great. There is no option to invite or join friends who are playing public Playlist matches or a party system. Good luck.

Well.. No party system speaks for itself.  I'm still excited for the single player game but online would've put a few more in the fray. Private match's will work for myself and about three friends. The rest won't pick up the game as it's my 'rep' on the line if I tell em' buy it and it works, it should. Glad to have the information though and looking for some good times in private matches along with some great single player. Hope the Dev team is hard at work to address/correct what they can. Not sure when the game came out but I thought it's been awhile and one would think things have gotten better.  I'm pretty sure all my guys run wired connect's with DMZ enabled on their ps3's.. hopefully this add's to the most favorable experience. Thanks for the reply

It was released on December 1st and being in a DMZ or bybassing any kind of router at all should give you the best possible chance for success. And I know what you mean, I begged a couple of my friends to get this game who didn't share my interest in MX and they've been throwing bricks through my window with threats and harassing my loved ones ever since.

I also begged my 2 nephews to get the game (they have little interest in mx) and we have had problem after problem getting us all in the same room.

well, I've had myself in PA, my brother in AZ, and a buddy from PA all in a private match three different nights for over 3 hours each session. Great times. No issues. Seemed like after a trial and error period we've concluded that you MUST not activate your mic until your in the lobby with your friends. Once your in the game THEN you can activate your mic and from that point on voice chat worked flawless. One buddy on cheap roadrunner was clipping a little bit for both my brother and I but it was short lived and I think it was relative to his provider/kids on same network at the same time. As far as public games. Seems to have issues. I was in plenty of full rooms that just wouldn't start. Don't know why and just bailed and played single player. Question: If I buy the DLC tracks and my friends buy them as well can we play the DLC tracks online?  Saw it rumored on the boards that you can't play the DLC online in public rooms, not sure if thats true but if so I'm baffled.

You can play the DLC tracks in private matches providing everyone in the room has DLC installed.  DLC in public rooms are a no go.  We played around with setting up a DLC only playlist for public rooms but if someone tries to join that doesn't have DLC it will kick everyone.
