I am looking to buy a bike and want some helpful advice. I am 16 years old, am new to mx ( i ride snowmobiles btw) and want to know what kind i should buy. Im not looking for a new one like 2010 or 2009. About 10 years old is fine nothing too fancy. I just want a good bike that I can ride at my local track.

02+ yz 125's are great bikes, and can be had for close to 1000 dollars.

For new riders, a 4-stroke is the way to go, and it also depends on the type of riding you will do.

if you arent one who rides aggresively or on the pipe all the time, its a good idea for a 4 stroke. If you're one of those guys that pins it in the powerband alot and rides hard, go with a 2 stroke. 2 strokes are easier to maintain too. GO 2 STROKE!

I strongly believe that people should start riding on two strokes, they just make you a better rider.  Having a narrow power band and less power forces you to take corners faster and work harder to clear jumps.  I would never move to a four stroke because of cost and all the maintenance required (plus its just fun to ride a 125), but if you were going to coming from a 2 stroke would really give you an edge.

125 2 smoker all the way man, perfect for a starter bike. Less maintenance then a 4 banger.
