I've been playing the game for a few weeks now. It's pretty clear that the old style controls of mcm, mcm2, mx vs atv, etc. were way better. I do fine with the "Reflex" controls but I just don’t find the game as entertaining with them. I used to love going into a turn to fast and sliding out the back then using the clutch to launch out of the turn... I just don’t get that feeling with "Reflex". I just don’t understand why they fixed something that wasn't broke. I know Rainbow wanted to be cutting edge but this is a step back. They should have spent more time on bike setup, track editor, and things like that. To those of us who played MCM2 you remember how great that game was. I believe Rainbow consulted with Roconda during the making of the game. Well it worked, the game was great and they should have continued down that path. While I applaud Rainbow for making these games I wish they would listen more to the people buying them. I don't know who was in charge of Rainbow when they made MCM2 and maybe the first MX vs ATV but they need to get that guy back on board. Just my 2 cents..

they need 2 have the use of the clutch again what dirt bike doesnt have one. the thing is people use the clutch on 4 strokes coming out of corners and other places like in sand and deeper mud

There is still a clutch. It is R1 by default.

I've been keeping up with the "MX vs. ATV" and other various "MX" titles for years now, and I believe they finally made a huge leap of progress with 'Reflex'. I never used the "down-up" pre-load mechanism in previous titles because it sent you a solid 300 e-feet in the air while the computer players were zipping right under you. If you spend some time and critique your fastest style, I'm thinking you could grow more fond of this one. I really dig the seperation of vehicle/rider control, and believe it to be a major realism booster. With MX vs. ATV Reflex, I actually had to WORK and develop fast methods and passages, unlike most of the other games - where it was a sort of plug-and-play situation; mash the X button and occasionally turn. ...doh
