2010 crf 250r clutch shattered!!

hi ive ridden my 2010 crf 250 for about 5 hours and this weekend when i was racing i shattered 2 clutch plates and ended up with ruts in my basket lol has anyone else had any problems with their clutch on one?allso i noticed after the second ride the bite was getting later and i was geting garbage starts so if you have one and thats happening that may mean its on its way out otherwise i was just unlucky lol shame cuz its such an awsome bike compared to my 09 suzuki lets hope it dosent happen again

I snapped my clutch lever clean off when i washed out at the bottom of a jump. That one sucked, had to walk my bike all the way back to my truck. And i had to wait for my new clutch to come in the store.

Brody8 that sounds nasty! W Which 2 plates was it? Was there any oil in there? Was it the oil from the factory?

nope we ran it in then changed the oil we do it evry time i ride and their was loads it jus went like that it went a bit tight about the 2nd lap and i thought it was on its way out then about 2 laps later it jus went an stuck in neutral lol realy strange ,we spoke to someone else who has one an the same thing happened but broke one of the lugs off the basket! thats y i posted this cuz if loads of people are havin this happen theyre gonna get recalled i think oh yeh it was 2 right next to each other about 2 plates away from the basket

We had the same thing happen on our crf250r. Clutch was working fine, just thought it was time to put fresh plates and discs in it after half a season of racing. The two inner plates were broken into one to two inch pieces but were still in place. We did have big groves in the inner basket, but nothing shattered. We have always used honda racing trans fluid. We put new plates and discs into it and tried maxem trans fluid for wet clutch apps, however being an 80 wt it would not release when with engine off and cold if in gear with clutch lever allpied. Shure hooked up good when running. We went back to a 30 wt and works fine. Im not sure if the groves cause the breakage, but it is possible that if the plates hang up, they could break-up xxxxx@xxxxx.com
