I am more concerned about suspension setup. I know for a fact that you want stiffer forks in sx, I guess I am wondering if that's what they mean by hard suspension in game.
i run about the same setup in SX as i do on Nats. more acceleration (not sure exactly where...sorry), tires about even on slippery vs sticky. suspension is where i change it though...harder for SX, softer for nationals.
just experiment really...i thought it would be better to have the tires as sticky as possible. not for me. i like a little slide so if i come down a little sideways on landing it doesnt grip right away and throw me off track. ive been getting better at SX so ill probably run my speed up a little more (practice on a 125...you have to be smooth and it really helps out when you run a big bike). its all in learning the tracks and finding what works best for you. ive even been beating people in SX and Nats on a 125. just pin it, work the clutch, and take more flowing lines because you dont have the power to accelerate hard out of corners.
Try this:
SX
Full sticky on tires. (you'll notice tough blocks dont knock you down and can turn really sharp without spinoutS)
Full acceleration (you'll notice after you wreck or mess up its easy to get the rhythem back)
Supension lean towards stiff.
Tire setup has helped me the most.
MX
full sticky
good bit of acceleration but some topspeed
suspension mixed leaning toward stiff.

Then adjust to tweak for your playstyle.
I used a lot of different settings and finally just placed all the setting in the middle. It works good on all tracks and lets you be consistant with how the bike reacts under most circumstances.
I always have my Acceleration 2 more then the Top speed. Have my tires 1 more on slick than sticky. Then have my suspension on the harder side. Because the faster you go, the harder the suspension you need. :D
Im not sure on what works best for me yet. What I do have setup is very similar to Jeremy365, though I think Im 1 notch more sticky tires then slick, but that probably will change with more testing as Im always screwing with settings.
Side note on bikes and testing:
I dont really look for the brand of bike, but the bike thats fastest for me/my style. When Im practicing lap times on single player, like on the 450s, I set them all with exact settings and race a 4+ lap race for on one track. Even with exact settings, Im finding they handle a little differently. So, with all settings equal on all bikes, I find that the DARK BLUE tuning ticks (which are fixed), are the predominant handling settings, even with all bikes setup the same. Who knows though, maybe its in my head! Some bikes like the Yamaha, have really good accel and jumping, but maybe harder to handle, while Suzuki doesnt accel as good, has good jumping, but a slightly better grip.
I guess Im just rambling, maybe someone will find it helpful. ;)
