Being a fan from the past... i loved original Motocross Madness.(jumping off widowmaker over the bowl) and even more the second edition motocross madness 2. (playing ranks for the lowest number plate on Microsft zone) What happend to MCM? Anyone from original development of the first two motocross games? Was there ever plans for a MCM3? Are you hiring?

nah id be interested to know.. I know when MCM2 was out, the whole community was waiting for MCM3, but everyone was hoping for an advance like MCM1 was to MCM2. Not so much the mx vs atv approach (not that it was a bad move) So yeah? im interested to know whether there were any plans for a specific MCM3???

rey is right ...there was a mcm 3 scheduled and being developed for the original xbox but got scrapped for splashdown .... microsoft had something to with killing the game since the owned the rights to the game ... i think they went with splashdown a game that could be released on both consoles ...maybe one of those rainbow employee's that have been there more then 2 years can verify this ....

I can answer this as I was around for all that (there a few of us still here). :) In fact, I used to race on the Zone as RBW_2Fast. At the end of MCM2, we were looking to do something different and potentially move towards developing something for the console market. The PS2 was just taking off and that seemed like a platform we could work with (previous ones didn't have the horsepower we were looking for). Remember, back in those days PC configurations had a lot more variables to deal with and we spent a lot of effort and time trying to get the game running on all these variations. We were curious what life was like on the console side where we could focus more on the game than the hardware variations. As we moved in this direction, Microsoft was still working on the "Madness" series of games (Motocross, Midtown, Monster Truck) and owned the name, so they kept it. That is where Sony and ATV ORF come into the picture. They offered us a chance to work on console development and continue on with a genre we had experience with while providing us with good support. We've bench raced with the idea of making an MCM3 over the years, but at this point MS still holds the rights to the name. Who knows, maybe they'll resurrect it in the future. If they do though, I doubt we would have anything to do with it unless it was multiple platform based. It was a great time for us and helped pave the way to continue making MX games. We're glad MS had enough faith in us to take a chance on a genre that didn't really exist yet. As for hiring, we post all open positions on our website and through sites like Gamasutra and such.
