I have been pulling back on the right stick and then letting go of it right before I leave the face of the jump. I can't tell if I am really getting a preload or if I am just imagining it?

Think of it more like a "stretch". Hold back all the way off the lip of a jump, then at the peak of your jump level the bike out in the air. Another technique is to pull back into the face of the jump. So as you come into the transition of the jump, move your rider's weight back. This will help load the rear suspension a touch more. These techniques will get you that extra little bit out of your jump distance, but don't expect to go 50 feet farther like the old preload system did. It takes practice to get the most out of your jumping abilities in Reflex. The best tip is just to be as smooth as possible in the sections leading up to a hard jump.

Think about in real life. When you see guys, as MX45 said, "stretching" to get over a jump, where is their body and where is their front wheel?

I like not having preload it makes it more realistic.

Yah I agree about not having a preload button, it helps make it realistic. Though I'm sure they could have turned it down in the past.

i find i preload more flicking the stick down on the face rather than holding it down on the runup and jump

Great job on this, as at times ion the SX tracks this is very important, to be smooth and on the gas from one section to the next, such as out of a long whoop section into a 180 and hen a big triple! This is not easy IRl and no longer easy in the game! Well Done Guys.
