I'm not sure if talking about other non THQ games is allowed here but I figured this is relative to the racing genre... I picked up Gran Turismo PSP at Fry's the other day and am not regretting the purchase. There have been nothing but mediocre to decent reviews at best on this game and I don't feel this game has gotten the wrap it deserves. Most notably, the reviews have dogged on the game for not having a career mode. I for one buy handheld games with an intention to play 10-30 minutes at a time and this game suites that play style perfectly. There are driving challenges that unlock game features such as custom soundtrack support and an incentive to keep playing by earning cash in races. Of course, the cash is used to buy new cars. Theres a more than healthy amount of cars to buy and an adequate amount of tracks to race on. The single player, the meat of the game, is simple; choose your event type (race, time trial, drift), choose your car, and choose the track. Theres also multiplayer via adhoc which allows for car gifting as well. The game keeps track of stats, allows you to save replays and has a mobile version of the gran turismo theater for showing friends how your M3 burns any Mercedes. The physics are great and not arcade like which is typical on a handheld game. The graphics are impressive and the sounds are top notch. Overall, I was on the bubble about this game before but decided to give it a shot when Fry's put it on sale ($19.99) and am very glad that I did. I definitely recommend this game for anyone looking for a racing game on their PSP.

Cool thanks for the review. GT is one of my all time favorite series. I'll have to check this out.

And for the record Chopper, you are allowed to talk about non-THQ games. We're all gamers and are always looking to play a good game, no matter who made or published it. :)

Excellent. Well since Fry's put it on sale last week I'm sure it will go back on sale sometime during the holiday season for anyone interested in it but looking to save some scratch.

Thanks for the review. I'm curious, does it have joystick support only, or does it allow the ole dpad on PSP? Normally I'm a joystick guy, but racing with the PSP one feels awkward to me.
